The scheduler is used for managing resources, collections gate-keeping, and generating charge tickets.
The scheduler is a tool to manage your resources; it allows you not to over-schedule a physician, practitioner, or facility. Also, if the scheduler is used as intended, there will no longer be any patients that slip through the cracks and don't get billed as the scheduler initiates your Work In Progress.
The scheduler is also used for collections gate-keeping. The patient scheduling screen shows the aging of invoices for each patient. Through integration, collections personnel can flag patient accounts with automatic messages for scheduling personnel. This includes placing accounts on hold eliminating the accidental scheduling of a collection account.
Charge tickets can also be generated from the scheduler. A charge ticket is a list of procedures that can be marked-off as the practitioner or physician performs or fits those tests or devices. Charge tickets vary by visit type. Having a completely different charge ticket for AK's vs BK's for instance makes it easier for the practitioner to select the proper base and add-on procedures.
